Wandering through the Dandelion Garden you may come across a variety of characters in my world. Some are living people, some just live in my head. Nicknames are often used to protect the innocent – and the guilty. There is Chick and the Thrill and Otis among many others. But most of the time you’ll be hanging out with Jim – a pretty good guy.

Tuesday Morning Dream
It's busy at Starbucks. The unusually warm February morning has caused quite a commotion in the small coffeehouse. Otis and Morgan have managed to squeeze into a spot near the window. The sun places a glare on their table that neither seem to mind. Morgan tears into a Crumbleberry muffin as Otis opens the paper and sips on his Caramel Macchiato. Natalie Merchant's "Wonder" plays slightly louder than the mumbling of the customers and the whirring of the cappuccino maker.
Otis and Morgan have been best friends for about ten months. They go everywhere together and rarely have any moments apart. They don't frequent Starbucks every day but they have been here enough for the staff to know their names. Otis begins work on the crossword puzzle (4-Down - Jane, to Henry - 8 letters) as Morgan enjoys people-watching. A tall man with gray hair and a black leather jacket rushes out the door with his Grande Gold Coast. A large woman with curly hair and bright red lipstick glances at Morgan as she sips her Decaf Mocca Java. Lizabeth, working the cash register, is wearing a bright orange scarf over her tightly braided hair today. She said she would come over and visit, but the long line makes it doubftul.
The combination of warm sunlight, soft music and rich aromas in the air overpower the fast pace of the workers and patrons. While most people are just beginning the hustle and bustle of their day, Otis and Morgan begin the relaxation of theirs. Somewhere a list of chores for the day can be found, but for the most part this is the kind of day Otis and Morgan spend together. Sometimes at Starbucks. Sometimes at Barns & Noble. Sometimes just at home. But always together.
Otis finishes the crossword and begins to get up. "Are you ready to get going, Mo?"
Morgan looks up with her big brown eyes and claps her hands on the table smashing what's left of her muffin. She yells something that Otis thinks is "Da, Da" but she's really trying to say, "No. I want to stay here and try some of that Lemon Swirl Cake."
But a Dad is allowed to dream.

B is for...
Busy. I have been very, very Busy lately and have subsequently ignored the Garden.
Blog. I have mentioned before that I am actually working on numerous Blogs. If you're interesting in learning something about Alonzo Mourning or Zsa Zsa Gabor or Red Buttons, jump over to the Circling Buzzards. There's not much new on the Baby Blog but check it in a few days. Trust me. I've just been Busy.
Buying a house. I can't say we have actually found our new home yet, but we certainly are trying. Of course it helps to sell our current one. We're working on that too. See Below.
Bathroom. Particaularly the Bathroom that I have painted recently. I really don't mind the painting, it's the taping and cleaning and moving stuff around that's a pain in the Butt. But the Bathroom does look much better without the Brady Bunch wallpaper.
Bowl. As in SuperBowl. For the matter, Brady, Belichick, Branch and Bruschi. And I guess for Boston too.
Brain. My Brain. The one that is getting too old to play Teen Jeopardy. Regular, old-people Jeopardy - no problem. But I have absolutely no idea who played on Party of Five. I don't think I ever will.
Budget. Bush's Budget of Bombs, Bullets and Billions for Baghdad.
Basement. Our Basement that is finally getting the new carpet it deserves. Although I have a certain attachment to the orange plush it has become apparent that updating a house helps to sell it.
Baseball. Pitchers and Catchers report next week and I have already submitted one pre-season article. Fantasy Leagues will be starting soon, which means I'll be even Busier.
Baby. Chick tells me our little girl is Busy too - kicking and punching and probably screaming. At least she doesn't have to paint a Bathroom or Buy a new house or pull up Basement carpet or worry about Bombing another country or write about Baseball or even create a Blog. She just has to get Born.
(Big smile.)
